Les Lois du Marketing selon Le Parrain

J'avais pris le temps de regarder la trilogie du Parrain sur les bons conseils du tenancier de ce blog il y a 2 ans, et je suis récemment tombée, au fil de mes pérégrinations sur le web, sur un article mettant en parallèle les enseignements du film adaptés au Lois du Marketing.

Retranscription ici et en anglais becoz que you're all bilingual n'est ce pas? :-)

#1.  "Keep you friend close, but your ememies closer."

Marketing Translation: Know your audience.  And know them like family.  Many brands spend a lot of time understanding the market and themselves, but getting close to your competition--living your competition--will make a difference.  Do you think that Dell, buys, uses and breaks down a MacBook Pro?  You bet!

#2.  "Don't ever let anyone outside the family know what you're thinking."

Marketing Translation:  Information walks.  Marketing people are chatty and information travels fast.   Agency people are even worse.

#3.  Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.

Marketing Translation:  You can learn more from your failures than from your successes.  So, leave the body but remember to learn from the experience.

#4.  Look how the massacred my boy.

Marketing Translation:  It's how the agency creatives refer to "client changes" and comments like "make the logo bigger".

#5.  No. (Michael's reply to Kay's question about his "business".)

Marketing Translation:  The ultimate in marketing denial.  Deny the research.  Deny the data.  Deny the sales figures.

#6.  My credit good enough to buy you out?

Marketing Translation:  Great brands, great companies and  great agencies often face the fate of the mega-conglomerate buyout.  It's like a gun to your head...unless you're the Don.

#7.  Don Corleone, I am honored and grateful that you have invited me to your daughter... 's wedding... on the day of your daughter's wedding. And I hope their first child be a masculine child.

Marketing Translation:  Dialogue and language selection is critical to your branding.  Is your brand...your baby...a masculine child?  Couching a brand personality in terms that are defined by your audience makes for a more legitimate and successful product.

#8   I'll make him an offer he don't refuse.

Marketing Translation:  At what point does the offer become irresistible?  The key is to find the "inflection" point when action emerges after contimplation.  For some, it's a gun to their head.  For others,  it's a coupon that offers 20% off.  Marketing is about applying the right pressure at the right point.

9. It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes.

Marketing Translation:  It's dead.  The concept doesn't work...never did..and never will.  Let it die and stop bringing up yesterday's strategy or tactic.  Dead is dead...for the mob or marketing.

#10.   Only don't tell me you're innocent. Because it insults my intelligence and makes me very angry.

Marketing Translation:  I missed the deadline.  I didn't see the competition coming.  And, the classic excuse that it wasn't my fault.  Sometimes, you just have to take the bullet.

And everyone remembers what happens to those who don't follow the rules...

BANG.

Salut, c'est clair que c'est un bon exemple de marketing efficace ;-)
En tout cas bien joué pour l'analogie, je suis un grand fan de cette trilogie, comme je suis agent de sécurité, j'ai souvent des moments où je suis seul, donc pour m'occuper et rester éveillé je regarde des films comme celui-ci.
